About the Project
The Tweed New Haven Airport proposes the development of a new terminal area and a runway extension to provide airfield and terminal area facilities to accommodate existing and reasonably foreseeable aircraft operations and passenger volumes. The Airport prepared an Environmental Assessment for the project under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to implement elements of its Airport Master Plan. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the lead agency.
An Environmental Assessment evaluates the reasonably foreseeable environmental, social, and economic consequences of a proposed action, and is used to determine whether or not an action is a "major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment."
This Environmental Assessment was prepared in accordance with NEPA requirements including the Council on Environmental Quality regulations (CEQ) and FAA implementing orders 1050.1F and 5050.4B. FAA Orders 1050.1F and 5050.4B establish the procedures and requirements for complying with NEPA for FAA actions. These FAA Orders establish the impact level (“thresholds”) of significance. The established “Significant Impact Thresholds” are used to determine if the environmental effects of a proposed action or its reasonable alternatives would cause significant environmental effects.
Final Environmental Assessment (FEA), Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), and Record of Decision (ROD)
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Tweed New Haven Airport Authority has released the Final Environmental Assessment (FEA), Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), and Record of Decision (ROD) approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for The Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) Runway 02-20 Extension and Terminal Expansion Program.
In compliance with the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations 1506.6, a copy of the FEA with signature page and FONSI/ROD are available for examination at the link below and at the Airport ID office.
